ALGEBRA EQUATIONS!!!

Algebra equations are easy.First you find out what operation the problem is doing. Then you have to do the inverse operation (the opposite operation).You then do the inverse operation to both sides. You will then get the variable by itself,and then you bring down the number after the = sign and it will show you what your variable ='s. here is an example of what i just told you.

ex. S + 5 = 15

-5 -5 GET IT!?

S = 10

CHECKING EQUATIONS

Now that you know how to solve equations you need to know how to check them. This is very easy to. First you write down the equation with the variable. Then you write under it the equation with the number that you think the variable equals. Then under the part before the = sign you write what it equals. Next to that you write = the number after the = sign. Then you write under that N or whatever your variable is = the number. Here is an example of what i just said.

ex. S + 5 = 15

10+5=15 GET IT!?

15=15

S=15

VOCABULARY

VARIABLE= ANYTHING THAT CAN VARY OR BE ANYTHING

EQUATION= A PROBLEM THAT YOU HAVE TO SOLVE BY FIGURING OUT WHAT THE VARIABLE IS.

factors and GCF

FACTORS=factors are numbers that are divisable by a number.









FACTORS



This is how you find the factors of a number. First you need to know the divisibility rules.(rules that help you find out if a number is divisible by a number.) Then you list the factors of the number wich are numbers that can go into the number.all of those numbers that you listed are called factors.

ex. 22= 1,22,2,11,
those are the factors of 22



GREATEST COMMON FACTOR

This is how you find the greatest common factors or GCF. First a GCF is a number that is the highest that is divisible by both of your numbers. So to find the GCF you would have to list the factors of the numbers or you can just list the factors of the smallest number. Now what is the highest factor in your list that is divisible by that number and the other? That number then is your GCF.

ex. 20= 1,20,2,10,4,5
4o=
20 is the GCF
